FalleN had finally done it: more than ten years after his first Counter-Strike tournament, he had a restored Brazil to a position of power and glory in the world. It was indisputable that LG was the best team in the world, with FalleN their mastermind, their leader.
Redeye: 'Can you sum up to me just what this means to the country of Brazil and your teammates?' FalleN: 'Just to sum it up this is our dream coming true and winning the biggest tournament ever on CS:GO means so much to me personally, and I'm sure it means a kot to my teammates as well.' However, their success had not gone unnoticed and with that came complications http://ipo-merge.com/texas-holdem-from-the-beginning/. The team became embroiled in a controversial scandal surrounding their sponsor and a potential switch to SK Gaming. Despite signing a Letter of Intent to re-sign with Luminosity Gaming, the team had signed contracts With SK Gaming and just prior to MLG Columbus. The result was a lengthy public debate and a legal battle over the future of the team, which was eventually settled on June 24th, 2016, when the team officially transferred to SK. Their first tournament under the SK banner was the ESL One Cologne Major. And just as they had at MLG, the Brazilians were gunning to take it all. FalleN: 'Our path to get here was very difficult, we had to go through a lot of things. So, when we have a chance to win another title we're gonna do everything we can to win it. So we're feeling blessed to be here and we wanna make a great show and do our best.' They didn't falter in their mission. [casting] Anders: 'And SK Gaming - second Major championship in a row! They are your winners!' Back-to-back Major titles left absolutely no doubt: not only was the roster one of the greatest to ever play CS:GO, FalleN was one of the greatest in-game leaders of the modern era. FalleN: 'Yeah, I think we found the perfect team. We have been trying for so long. I personally have been trying since 2009. Seven years trying to achieve tournaments and I have the perfect guys on my side. I mean everyone - all of them played so well.' Heading into the back half of 2016, everyone expected FalleN and SK to continue to take home the hardware. But, behind the scenes trouble was brewing. Fnx, always known as a bad boy, was causing tension in the team. While SK's results were nothing to sneeze at, they were not were FalleN hoped they would be. He had fought so hard to reach the top and anything less than first was a disappointment now that he had tasted victory. Fnx was removed from the team and SK Gaming played the ELEAGUE Major in January of 2017 with Ricardo "fox" Pachero as a stand-in while the team sought out a new fifth member. Proving just how good the team was, even with a stand-in SK Gaming still finished top four at the event. Eventually, the up-and-coming star of Immortals, Joao "felps" Vasconcellos was selected to join the SK ranks. The team was once again focused, driven and determined to win titles. The rest, as they say, is history. [casting] FalleN's story is one of hard work paying off, dedication reaping rewards and passion leading to victory. His nickname of 'The Godfather of Brazilian CS' is more than just a moniker - he's earned it. Games Academy, which started as just an online class all those years ago, now boasts its own content creators and has witnessed its former roster, now sponsored by Immortals, finish second at the recent PGL Major. FalleN was once named "The Most Influential Person in Brazilian Esports" in 2015 for his work building the community, teaching and spreading the word of esports. He's a two-time Major winner, a respected leader, a fierce competitor. In every aspect of his life FalleN has gone above and beyond - and something tells us he's just getting started. - [Voiceover] Exactly and cigarettes, well, they can't do that in jail anymore, because it's a nonsmoking facility. - [Voiceover] Oh, right. - [Voiceover] But they used to gamble with cigarettes, but it doesn't have to be money, I guess, is really the point I wanna make about that. And then the last definition of addiction that I wanted to share with you was a progressive disorder characterized by a continuous or periodic loss of control over gambling, a preoccupation with gambling and with obtaining money with which to gamble, irrational thinking, and continuation of the behavior, again, despite adverse consequences. So Denise has a great example of a woman that she worked with not too long ago.
- [Voiceover] I do and let me share that before I forget. Are you referring to the gal that had the Facebook problem? - [Voiceover] Yes, exactly. Exactly. - [Voiceover] In fact, I see that one of my interns is on the line, so she'll remember this when we talked about it in our group supervision call casinoslots nz. There was a gal who presented for treatment at New Frontier Treatment Center, which most of you know is in Fallon, Nevada, and they have everything from outpatient to intensive outpatient to residential to other placement availability in Fallon. So this gal presented with, I believe it was either meth or alcohol as her primary addiction. What we came to find out as the assessment unfolded, because those of you that have worked around residential treatment before certainly know that it takes more than the initial assessment to get the whole picture of the person. Over the first few days that she was in treatment, we came to discover that this lady had a gambling problem and when they were doing the gambling assessment, which we use the Gambling Patient Placement Criteria, the gypsy assessment here at the Reno Problem Gambling Center and also at Bristlecone Family Resources and at New Frontier in Fallon, where there are gambling interns applying it and using it all the time. Come to find out that her gambling in a casino was rare, the majority of what we determined was her process addiction and it was gambling related, was on Facebook. She was doing gambling activities on Facebook and when asked what the highest amount she had ever spent on avatars and points and helpful hints and that sort of thing, she spent 12,000 dollars in one year, doing that and we advised her to take all the gambling treatment that she could while she was there at New Frontier, because that was the essence of her gambling disorder. Talk about progressive and adverse consequences, even though there was no possibility for her to get a return on her investment in the way of cash, it was all just status and other things that she got online, she had spent 12,000 dollars and was out of control. So thank you for reminding me of that case, while we're on this slide, when you look at the names that you give gamblers, going all the way back to ancient times, so to speak, they used to call some gamblers degenerate gamblers. That was a pet name that right up until this century they were sometimes called, so if you hear terms like pathological gambler, compulsive gambler, bandied about it probably depends on the culture or the environment that you're in and in Gamblers Anonymous that is still what people will call themselves, however, in the DSM-5, which we'll be talking about in a minute or two, the current term is gambling disorder. So this next slide, you can see that it's occasionally called gaming instead of gambling and those of you that know Nevada history and have lived here for awhile will have heard a number of advocates of gambling, namely the casino industry as a business, put a little spin on the name because they wanna make it more attractive, more entertainment focused and I can't blame them as far as business marketing goes, you wanna put as much fun and glitz on the term as you possibly can and Denise jump in anytime here if you have any of your favorite stories about that. We're gonna be doing a lot of talking and we know, that's the sharing part, we know that you're gonna be listening a great deal, but we also are hoping that you're gonna absorb the really good useful parts of this that apply to you and that you'll be able to then funnel that down into discovery and application of process addiction, specifically gambling, and drug and alcohol addiction, and other mental illness issues with teens in Nevada today. And that over to your right is where we're gonna focus, youth and alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, and gambling, wraparound services that are available to them, as well as some prevention. Just a few notes on prevention, because I think we're gonna spend more time talking about prevention in or next webinar in October. - [Voiceover] Right. - [Voiceover] And right now our focus is on the data that we have to share for you that's got some basic information and we wanna bring you up-to-date on a few things, and we wanna kinda get you excited about some cases that we have been involved with because both of us have had 23 years of experience as Marriage and Family Therapists and Addiction Counselors, we hope that you will either send your questions or include your thoughts that you wanna hear more of as you're listening to us so that we can answer your questions. And you probably already know that there's gonna be some polling questions.
That's when you have to make sure that you're alert and you respond to the poll in a short period of time. So Jeanyne, if you would like to put up polling question number one. Watch your screen. And while you guys are answering that, we'll give you a couple more seconds, 30-ish to take a look at what all the options are and I see we've got some people that are other and I thought I had thought of just about everything so if you who are in the other category would type us a little message in the chat bar on your left so that we can see what other kinds of people we have listening to our webinars today, we would like to know, so about 2/3rds of us are Counselors, one Therapist, one Social Worker, one Clinical Director, one Administrator, one Intern and three people who are other. If you could publish the results, if you haven't already, Jeanyne, so we can see that, so I see that there are some Prevention people, awesome! I really appreciate that the Prevention Specialists are here as well and I hope that the information that we... helpful and you will wanna come to the next one and attend that in October as well. And let's see, I'm gonna turn the time over to Denise E. - [Voiceover] Hi, this is Denise again, Denise E. actually. And one of the things I wanted to do is just start with some very basic definitions of addiction and the reason I wanted to do this is because no matter where you look at the definition of addiction, the one theme that's consistent through everything, if you look at the first one, repetitive behaviors in the face of negative consequences, the desire to continue something you know is bad for you, and that's from NIDA. The next one talks about adverse consequences, the third one talks about adverse consequences, then we have negative consequences again, so the idea is that there has to be consequences for the behavior, there's some sort of impairment going on with either ingesting a chemical of some kind or with the process addictions, with the behaviors, so that in our case today, that would be, we're focusing on gambling and gaming, so I just wanted to make sure that we were looking at a variety of definitions so we could just have a basic understanding and even number five talking about compulsive gambling, which is also called gambling disorder, is the uncontrollable urge to keep gambling despite the toll it takes on your life. So gambling means that you're willing to risk something you value in the hope of getting something of even greater value, so it doesn't even have to be money. Sometimes people will gamble with they'll gamble with their time, they'll gamble with their... - [Voiceover] Well, I know in jail, they gamble with their food and their stamps and things that are of value to them there. And I'm Denise Everett and I'll be referring to myself as Denise E., when I remember to refer to myself, so thank you.
- We welcome you to our first webinar, this is a learning experience for us, we've done lots of live stuff, we're gonna try and do webinars now so we're looking forward to feedback from you guys. As you can see on the first slide, there is our basic contact information, I am with the Reno Problem Gambling Center and that's the Problem Gambling Center phone number 775-284-5335. At the end, I'll be giving you my personal phone number and Denise Everett at Quest Counseling, that is her business number, 786-6880. So a little bit about me, I have my Master's in Counseling and Educational Psychology from University of Nevada Reno, go Pack! Graduated in 1992 and with that I immediately got my Marriage and Family Therapy certification, eventually I got my LCADC, my Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor certification in Nevada. I am a nationally approved board BACC-NCGC-II,which means I have the highest level of national certification and can supervise gambling counselors who have those initials. And then my CPGC-S is Certified Problem Gambling Counselor Supervisor in the state of Nevada. I'm currently the CEO and Clinical Director of the Reno Problem Gambling Center, which is nonprofit outpatient treatment for gamblers and families. And under the same roof, which is at 527 Humboldt Street in midtown Reno, I'm sure you guys are all familiar with, those of you that know Reno, the trendy thing now is to call parts of downtown midtown and it's having a renaissance and it's very nice because I'm right in the middle of it. I also have my private practice under the same roof, it's Red Hawk Counseling and I do outpatient treatment and consulting both here and at a small office that I have in Lovelock where I go there twice a month. And essentially the private practice things that I focus on are drugs and alcohol as they relate to the family, sex and porn addiction, I have a LifeStar franchise, which means I can use the material for the LifeStar network to treat sex and porn addiction in individuals and couples and I also do other consulting work and other educational activities, which leads me to my last line there, I'm an instructor for the University of Nevada, Reno, I developed and teach a 400, 600 level CAS course entitled, "Exploring Gambling Behaviors." And if any of you have been my students, I would love to hear that in the little chatroom. So, coming right up, here's Denise Everett. - [Voiceover] Hi, I don't have nearly as many initials behind my name, however, I do have, I also have a Master's in Counseling and Educational Psychology and I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Nevada, as well as licensed alcohol and drug counselor. I'm currently the Executive Director of Quest Counseling and Consulting, Incorporated, which is a nonprofit agency here in Reno and we provide substance use disorder, mental health, and co-occurring disorder services to adolescents, adults, and families. We have quite a focus on adolescents and young adults ages 18 to 25, 26. I'm also a part time instructor at UNR usually for CASAT and I most recently worked with a group of Peer Support Specialists in a one credit class, so I've done other teaching for CASAT and for PMCC as well. - [Voiceover] So we like to call ourselves The Two Denises and should we go forward with doing webinars together, we are gonna do another one in October and we'll tell you about that at the end. Should we continue to do these activities together, you'll be seeing lots of fun stuff from the two Denises. We went to graduate school together and we both graduated in 1992 from the Counseling and Educational Psych program, so that if there was a camera taking a picture of us doing our scientific explorations, that would have been us back in the day and what you see on the right is a picture of the University of Nevada, Reno's Getchell Library, which is no more. I put it there kind of for sentimental reasons because they recently tore it down and are putting a new building in its place. So those of you who remember the Getchell Library, you can just have a little moment of memory with us. Denise and I spent many an hour in the Getchell Library. - [Voiceover] (laughs) We certainly did. - [Voiceover] So here's a couple of goals and objectives for you guys to think about that we're gonna be hoping to accomplish today and hopefully, why you signed up for this webinar. FBook Review: Very nice and useful pocket book Rating: 5 stars I supervise the trauma center in a busy part of Hong Kong for a teaching hospital. I have found this book packed with useful information. It is very suitable for doctors and nurses in a trauma center and is also of considerable use to the paramedics who want to know a little bit more in cervical injuries. I have seen many instances of chiropractic cervical trauma in Hong Kong and was impressed to see that this aspect is well covered in this book as well. Book Review: Impressive handbook Rating: 5 stars I am a Chief Resident in Surgery with special interests in trauma to the neck. Having read numerous books on the subject I was quite impressed with this handbook. Even though there were no real photographs of trauma, the drawn diagrams were very clear and self-explanatory. The subject matter was covered comprehensively. I have not seen such a wide coverage in any corresponding book. I have found it a most suitable book for Board Certification exams and revisions. For full information go to essay help service online. Book Review: very good Rating: 5 stars I am a Surgeon. I came across this book through Alta vista and because it seemed good for my current project, I located it in our University Library. I am impressed with the contents. The coverage is comprehensive and the subject is well described in text and in appropriate diagrams. Inter-specialty coverage is excellent and it is this feature which makes this book stand out. The management-plan is easy to understand. I have already ordered this for my hospital library and for my own collection. I can recommend this book to all General Surgical Residents. Book Review: Excellent neck injuries book Rating: 5 stars This is a wonderful book written in a simple language and in a most informative manner. Multiple visceral trauma of the neck has been described very well. Lacks real life pictures but makes up well with several easy to remember and easy to draw diagrams. Book Review: I am impressed with this book Rating: 5 stars I find this book easy to read and to follow in the complicated area of inter-specialty trauma in the neck. I was searching for material for a case report that I am writing involving the roots of brachial plexus, larynx and laceration of Subclavian Artery in the Subclavian Triangle caused by a gunshot injury. This book supplied me with all the necessary general information and the necessary references to look up for some more.
In homeschooling is becoming increasingly popular. There are a variety of reasons for this, one of them being the dissatisfaction people feel with the established educational system. Another factor is the ease with which information can be found and passed on using modern teaching tools and the Internet. There are also more situations where one or both parents are at home with the children. Home schooling has proven to be highly effective because the curriculum can be tailored to the needs of the individual student. Even if you intend to let the educational establishment take control of the majority of the learning process, your children will still benefit from being able to enter school with a developed knowledge of the subjects they will be studying. There are many excellent pre-school packages which can present basic learning content in such a way that it is interesting to the students. This is often done by the use of role playing, or by using the subject matter in real life situations. When the students attend school, they are less likely to struggle because they will also have some basic understanding of the subject. The key to being successful with at home schooling is to get the right supplies, making sure they are tailored to the learning style which best suits your children. There are a few children who are naturally good book learners. You can just give them a text book to read and a quiet room, and they will be able to concentrate, absorb the information, and answer questions on the subject later. These naturally good students are the exception rather than the norm, but if you have one in your family it is best just to let them learn in their natural way. In Homeschooling There are far more students who struggle with this type of book learning, especially when they are young. The subject matter will often be perceived as being dry and uninteresting, and the student will be unable to maintain concentration for long enough. In this case, there is little point trying to turn the student into someone who is a born book learner. Far more will be achieved by designing a curriculum which will suit their learning style. At home schooling supplies are getting ever more inventive, as manufacturers integrate all kinds of real life situations into lessons. There is no reason why even subjects which are normally considered to be dry and even boring cannot be dressed up in alternative learning styles to make it easier for children to concentrate. Carry out a thorough online search to see exactly what is on the market, and then decide how you can integrate it into a curriculum which will suit your child. There are so many possibilities for in home schooling. Home educators are becoming increasingly common, and there are more resources than ever before to help them in their quest. There are many contributory factors to the current growth in homeschooling, some of them long term and irreversible. There is obviously a dissatisfaction with the current state education system, although this varies greatly from state to state and even from one individual school to another. On a more positive note, parents are realizing that in many cases they have the time and opportunity for homeschooling which was not there before. One of the greatest contributory factors to the homeschooling growth has been the Internet. This has led to more people discovering, and seriously thinking about, the possibility of homeschooling. It has made it possible for parents to find out exactly what is involved, from complying with the legal requirements to making sure that the curriculum is structured in a way which suits the child's learning style. More than this, the Internet has made it possible for potential home educators to interact with each other through online forums to get the help and support they need. Homeschooling has become big business, and educational publishers have been quick to satisfy the demands of the ever growing market. The most important consideration when you start out in homeschooling is to make sure that you are staying within the requirements of the state educational authorities. The easiest way to do this is to use ready made courses which have already been prepared by educational professionals with an in-depth knowledge of these requirements, and of the needs of student children. Home Educators Even if you take advantage of these complete courses, it doesn't stop you from adding your own innovations and learning aids which suit the style your child needs. Many children do not find reading book in a silent room on their own for hours at a time to be very easy, and they need more interaction with teacher to be able to absorb the material. If this is the case with your child, you would do well to look at some of the inventive products which integrate basic learning with imaginative role play. The best place to source these great resources for home educators is, once again, the Internet. Both the complete courses and the supplementary products can be easily found, paid for, and downloaded without you even needing to leave your desk. Because this has become a highly competitive market, the prices are very reasonable as well. Also available online are software packages which allow you to keep an ongoing record of the timetable you have set, and your child's progress. These packages make satisfying the reporting requirements easy. If you are relatively new to the Internet, you may well be surprised at the wealth of resources now available to home educators. |
